Complete Streets
Design Implementation Workshop

This 4 hour workshop provides engineers and planners with technical Complete Streets design implementation tools and the foundation necessary to more routinely create Complete Streets networks that serve all users. As a result of the workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the benefits of adopting an effective Complete Streets policy and deploying four strategies for its effective implementation.
  • Examine design research, best practices, standards, guides, and technical tools that help design professionals balance and meet the needs of all users.
  • Describe technical design flexibility within current design guides and standards.
  • Assess and identify appropriate next steps toward adoption of an effective Complete Streets policy.
Instructor Paul Zykofsky, AICP, is an experienced National Complete Streets Coalition workshop instructor with over 17 years experience directing Local Government Commission’s programs related to land use, transportation planning, community design, as well as health and the built environment. Based in Sacramento, CA, he is also nationally certified to facilitate Safe Routes to School workshops and teaches the FHWA’s Designing for Pedestrian Safety and Pedestrian Safety Action Plan courses.
